An Improved Pseudo-Polynomial Upper Bound for the Value Problem and Optimal Strategy Synthesis in Mean Payoff Games

چکیده
We prove the existence of a pseudo-polynomial O(|V ||E|W ) time algorithm for the Value Problem and Optimal Strategy Synthesis in Mean Payoff Games. This improves by a factor log(|V |W ) the best previously known pseudo-polynomial upper bound due to Brim et al. The improvement hinges on a suitable characterization of values and optimal strategies in terms of reweightings.

Faster O(|V|^2|E|W)-Time Energy Algorithms for Optimal Strategy Synthesis in Mean Payoff Games
This study strengthens the links between Mean Payoff Games (MPGs) and Energy Games (EGs). Firstly, we offer a faster O(|V |2|E|W ) pseudo-polynomial time and Θ(|V |+ |E|) space deterministic algorithm for solving the Value Problem and Optimal Strategy Synthesis in MPGs. This improves the best previously known estimates on the pseudo-polynomial time complexity to:
متن کاملA pseudo-quasi-polynomial algorithm for solving mean-payoff parity games
In a mean-payoff parity game, one of the two players aims both to achieve a qualitative parity objective and to minimize a quantitative long-term average of payoffs (aka. mean payoff). The game is zero-sum and hence the aim of the other player is to either foil the parity objective or to maximize the mean payoff. Our main technical result is a pseudo-quasi-polynomial algorithm for solving mean-...
متن کاملThe Value 1 Problem Under Finite-memory Strategies for Concurrent Mean-payoff Games
We consider concurrent mean-payoff games, a very well-studied class of two-player (player 1 vs player 2) zero-sum games on finite-state graphs where every transition is assigned a reward between 0 and 1, and the payoff function is the long-run average of the rewards. The value is the maximal expected payoff that player 1 can guarantee against all strategies of player 2. We consider the computat...
متن کاملQuantitative Fair Simulation Gamest
Simulation is an attractive alternative for language inclusion for automata as it is an under-approximation of language inclusion, but usually has much lower complexity. For non-deterministic automata, while language inclusion is PSPACE-complete, simulation can be computed in polynomial time. Simulation has also been extended in two orthogonal directions, namely, (1) fair simulation, for simula...
متن کاملThe benefit of law-making power
We study optimal equilibria in multi-player games. An equilibrium is optimal for a player, if her payoff is maximal. A tempting approach to solving this problem is to seek optimal Nash equilibria, the standard form of equilibria where no player has an incentive to deviate from her strategy. We argue that a player with the power to define an equilibrium is in a position, where she should not be ...
